Welcoming thousands of tourists every year, and hosting a wide variety of functions and events, the Palace of Holyroodhouse is a busy environment, with new challenges every day.

Joining our small and dedicated central team, you’ll be an essential part of the running of the Palace, managing varied building facilities and projects.

With oversight of daily operations, you'll coordinate and oversee all planned maintenance, new installations, and remedial works. You’ll monitor and keep track of progress, ensuring work is delivered on time, and that standards and budgets are met.

You’ll also be a local point of contact for health and safety and compliance. An important part of your role, that will encompass workplace inspections, risk assessments, preventative actions and reports, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring a safe environment for all.

As part of the local management team, you’ll support and contribute to our future strategy and plans.

You'll drive green initiatives, working with teams across the organisation to identify opportunities for developing our sustainability and environmental awareness. And both digital working, and business continuity, will be underlying focuses in all you do.

You’ll also act as Event Duty Manager, managing the delivery of various functions throughout the year.

Working in occupied historic buildings, your challenge will be to balance current needs, whilst also creating a sustainable building for the future.

You’ll have previous facilities management experience, ideally within a historic environment, so you’ll be able to quickly establish yourself in this role.

An expert at contract and budget management, you'll be confident managing a delivering a varied range of projects.

Beyond this, it’s also important that you have Health & Safety experience, and will be able to apply this knowledge to ensure we’re always up to date with statutory compliance.

Key to your success will be your ability to manage varied stakeholder relationships. With exceptional communication skills, you’ll build positive relationships with colleagues at all levels, as well as external contractors.

You’re a logical and innovative problem solver, and able to quickly assess situations before suggesting pragmatic solutions.

With an organised and flexible approach, you’re able to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritise the varied workload that historic environments entail.

And with your proactive attitude, you'll work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an exceptional service.
