The Master of the Household’s Department is responsible for hospitality and organisational aspects of the busy official and private entertaining programme at all the Royal residences. Working in magnificent historic settings, we take on a huge variety of hospitality, catering and housekeeping challenges.

As a Royal Household Hospitality Scholar, you'll join our department for a placement which offers an immersive training experience in your chosen field. There are nine placements on offer, three in each of our main hospitality functions: Catering, Housekeeping and Front-of-house.

Over the course of the six week placement within your field, you'll rotate around different specialist areas and will see and take part in some spectacular events.

Catering Placement

Spending time with our professional team, you'll learn how we deliver food to the very highest standards.  Whether it is preparing staff lunches, canapés for receptions and fine dining menus, we have quality ingredients and talented chefs, who can share their experience to help you develop your skills in all sections of the kitchen.

Housekeeping Placement

You'll join the team who make everything happen in front of and behind the scenes. Aiming for the highest standards, you'll see how we clean and care for magnificent interiors and items, from fine carpets and furniture, to historic works of art. The team professionally prepare and maintain bedrooms and rooms for a range of events. You'll gain a real insight into every aspect of our housekeeping function.

Front-of-house

With our experienced and supportive team, you'll see how we prepare for and deliver an exceptional front-of-house service at a range of events, and learn new skills in looking after guests. Rotating through the Royal Cellars, Silver and Glass Pantries and the Floristry, you'll also gain valuable experience in some vital back-of-house activities.

Currently working in a hospitality role and with a real passion for the industry, you're an ideal candidate.

With outstanding team work skills and a pro-active approach, you'll be keen to learn from our experienced team and make the most of the placement.

Responsive, friendly and approachable, you'll adapt your communication style to suit different situations.

Committed and dedicated, with an eye for detail, you set yourself very high standards and always seek to impress.
