It’s knowing that your expertise will present history in a new light

It's protecting heritage by leaving your own legacy. And it's the satisfaction of caring for and presenting one of the world's largest art collections. This is what it feels like to work for Royal Collection Trust.

In terms of both quality and diversity, our collection of decorative arts is breath-taking. Your challenge will be to preserve and prepare frames to help present art work at its best.

You'll join the Framing and Exhibitions team on the Painting Condition Survey Project, working on a vast and varied collection, and every work of art will present you with a different challenge.

You'll prepare frames to conservation standards to accommodate paintings, including glazing and creating microclimates and backings.

From treatments for gilded surfaces to structural repairs, you'll assess and treat the frames ensuring that they are in the best condition.

In the studio you'll be responsible for sourcing supplies, the upkeep of specialist equipment and ensuring our reporting systems are updated.

And you'll work with colleagues handling paintings in residences across the country, at times working at height and with heavy paintings.

In everything you do, you'll play a part in the care of a world renowned collection.

A graduate with a relevant degree, you'll have a passion for decorative arts and knowledge of their conservation requirements.

You'll already have previous art handling and conservation framing experience, and will be looking to develop your skills further.

With a keen eye for detail, you care about each item you work on, and try and deliver the highest level of conservation care.

Outstanding organisation skills will also be vital, as you'll need to prioritise a varied workload and meet deadlines regularly.

Working as part of a small team and with good communication skills, you'll enjoy collaborating and building relationships with a range of people.

Above all, you'll be eager to work alongside expert colleagues who are passionate about the collection they conserve.

In return you will be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including 25 days holiday (exclusive of Bank Holidays), a 15% employer contribution pension scheme (with the option for flexibility to increase contributions or draw down as salary), lunch provided, with on the job training and development, as well as a range of out-of-hours recreational facilities.
