c. £28,000 per annum dependent on experience. This is an accommodated role (for which there is a salary adjustment) with all meals provided.
full time, 5 days out of 7, Monday to Sunday.

Joining this unique environment, you will be part of a team responsible for delivering daily catering for up to 500 staff, as well as canapé receptions for hundreds of guests, State banquets and the preparation of small private lunches.

Working alongside a team of professional chefs, you will be confident overseeing the kitchen on a daily basis. From ordering stock and menu design to serving a finished plate, you will be involved in all aspects of the catering operations.

Using the freshest seasonal ingredients from the kitchen garden at Balmoral and game from the Estates, you will be encouraged to develop your technical expertise from the most organic and unique sources.

You will also assist in the training, development and leadership of the team, giving you the opportunity to develop your supervisory skills. In a varied role, you will play an integral part in the day-to-day running of The Royal Household

Although you are based at Buckingham Palace, you will also work as part of a team at other Royal residences throughout the UK, spending a total of approximately three months away from London.

With a passion for food, experience in all sections of the kitchen and you will be looking to take the next step in your career and further develop your people management skills.

Ideally having worked in a fine dining environment, with some experience of volume catering, you will have the confidence to take charge of the kitchen when required.

With excellent planning and organisational skills, you will be able to prioritise your varied workload.

With initiative and enthusiasm, and a commitment to high standard, quality food, you will enjoy working in a team that delivers the best on a daily basis.

With strong communication skills and an interest in developing others, you will be eager to inspire and mentor team members to achieve great things.

You will also have a City and Guilds qualification in Catering (or equivalent) and will be able to demonstrate experience of managing, mentoring or developing team members.
