Assistant Gardener

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

As Assistant Gardener you will be an integral part of the gardening team helping to maintain the gardens and grounds of Bagshot Park.

Working to ensure the grounds are kept to an exceptional standard you will cover extensive lawns, terrace and formal areas, fruit and vegetable gardens, ponds and also a mature pinetum.

You will keep the lawns in top condition with regular mowing and edging, scarification and reseeding. Taking on a wide range of routine maintenance, you will also nurture herbaceous and rose borders, monitor progress in the conservatory, and carry out shrub and tree planting.

Supporting the Head Gardener with the programme of work, you will liaise with contractors and carry out regular inspections of the grounds.

You will also have the opportunity to become involved in projects, helping to renovate and create new areas within the historical gardens.

With a passion for gardening you will have previous horticultural experience, ideally in a large garden or estate environment.

An industry recognised qualification will be beneficial, as is a clean UK driving licence and experience operating a wide range of garden machinery.

With good time management and prioritising skills, you will able to organise a busy and varied workload.

You also have excellent communication skills, and are able to work and liaise with a range of people.

You will have a proactive and adaptable approach to work, and will enjoy working as part of a dedicated team.
