It’s using your technical expertise to deliver outstanding service

It’s being trusted to deliver. And developing new ways to take the organisation forward. This is what a career at the Royal Household means.

Working within a small but vital team as part of our Finance department, you’ll be responsible for the day to day operation of the payroll for over 2000 employees.

You'll oversee all aspects of payroll management, from the preparation of monthly reconciliations to performing the necessary variants checks, all in order to deliver a faultless service.

Ensuring compliance with internal procedures as well as statutory requirements, you’ll use your technical expertise to maintain the accuracy and robustness of our payroll system.

A naturally collaborative worker, you’ll regularly liaise with HMRC and the DWP, conducting research to resolve employee queries as required.

You’ll also work closely with the HR team, in particular helping support the ‘summer uplift’ of approximately 500 employees; ensuring a seamless flow of new employees onto the payroll.

You’ll be a key source of knowledge within the wider Finance team, with line management responsibility for an existing Payroll Officer. Motivating those around you, you’ll ensure best practice is at the very heart of your combined activities.

The deadlines will be demanding and the standards high. But you’ll be proud of the role you’ll play, helping to improve efficiencies and pushing forward new ways of digital working.

IPP qualified with significant experience of all aspects of payroll management, including taxation, you’re the expert we need to take our payroll provision forward.

You’ll have a thorough understanding of payroll management packages (ideally iTrent/Midland), potentially with some knowledge of system development and implementation. You’ll also be fully confident using Excel on a daily basis.

Logical, analytical and methodical, with exceptional attention to detail, you’ll be able to identify and resolve payroll variations, often to tight deadlines.

You'll have experience of dealing with a wide range of payroll issues, and be able to communicate complex information to customers with varying levels of technical understanding.

You're as good with people as you are with numbers, and with sound judgement and decision-making, you'll be able to influence and advise at all levels to become a trusted advisor.

Ideally with some people management experience, you'll have a genuine interest in motivating and leading a team member.

With a customer focus in all that you do, you'll be eager to work alongside colleagues in order to deliver exceptional support to this unique and varied organisation.
