Full time, working 5.5 out of 7 days a week

It's raising horses that will one day perform on the world stage.

It’s knowing you're at the start of something special, and it's delivering work that will help uphold ceremonial activities. This is what makes working for the Royal Household exceptional.

The Royal Mews at Windsor Castle provides an initial training ground for young horses and ponies, preparing them for their varied roles.

As Remount Trainer and Assistant Stud Groom, you'll undertake the breaking-in and backing of all young carriage stock, as well as charger ponies and potential eventers.

You'll run annual training programmes to develop the young horses, supervising the team with daily driving exercises, ride-outs and harness work.

You’ll also work with the team to keep the stables and equipment in the very best condition, contributing to the overall efficient running and management of the stables.

The variety of horses you’ll train will stretch you and develop your expertise, and in all that you do, you’ll aim for the highest standards. After all, these horses will go on to perform in ceremonial activities that are enjoyed by millions.

A growing expert in your field, you’re knowledgeable in all aspects of stable management, and will be looking to take your equine career to the next level.

It’s essential that you’re a highly capable and confident rider, with substantial experience of breaking-in and backing horses, and riding instruction.

Being experienced in both postilion driving and driving carriages would be an advantage, and you'll ideally have obtained a recognised equine qualification (BHS, BDS, NVQ, Equine Diploma or equivalent), and possibly have an HGV license as well.

Beyond all this, it’s also important that you’re a strong people manager. With experience of leading others, you'll be able to motivate, develop and coach those around you, adapting to the varying needs of your colleagues.

And with an engaging and approachable communication style, you’ll work well with a variety of individuals, becoming a trusted advisor for both your team and senior managers alike.

Highly organised, you’re able to juggle a varied workload to meet tight timings and deadlines.

You'll also have a flexible and proactive approach to work, making you a real asset to the team.

And with a clear passion for horses, you’ll be committed to achieving the highest level of presentation and exceptional results.

You can look forward to working in a unique and stimulating work environment, and be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including 33 days holiday (inclusive of Bank Holidays), a 15% employer contribution pension scheme, and support for your continuous professional development. In addition, as this is a live-in role, you will be provided with accommodation, for which your salary will be abated.
