Reservicing
Buckingham Palace
Permanent
£41,500 - £45,000 dependent on experience
37.5 per week, over five days, Monday to Friday

It’s leading a team who will preserve the Palace for future generations.

It’s being trusted to deliver. And it’s joining the professional team behind the Monarchy. This is what makes working for the Royal Household exceptional.

Buckingham Palace is currently undergoing a ten-year programme of works to update the palace's infrastructure - including electrical cabling, plumbing and heating - for the first time since the 1950's. A dedicated in-house Programme Management Office will oversee the delivery of this project, to ensure the building is fit for purpose for the next 50 years.

Joining a team of specialists you’ll be responsible for ensuring that the significant collections of art within Buckingham Palace are protected and cared for alongside ongoing reservicing works.

You’ll oversee various complex projects, from the safe removal of works of art and protection of items in-situ in areas where Reservicing Programme works are taking place, to subsequently managing their safe return and display after works have finished.

Through agile leadership of the Collections Team, and working alongside Royal Collection Trust colleagues, you’ll set the direction for the delivery of decants, reinstatements and protection where required, aligning your team’s projects with the overall construction programme and adapting accordingly. You’ll also procure and manage external contractors and utilise resources effectively to maximise efficiency and performance.

And you’ll make sure that all project activities are delivered to schedule, budget and to a high standard, whilst promoting a strong culture of compliance and risk awareness.

You’ll liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels, and you’ll collaborate closely with colleagues to achieve best practice in collection care whilst simultaneously minimising the impact on Reservicing operations as much as possible.

You’ll take the lead on conducting regular reviews of upcoming activities, managing your team’s project schedule alongside changes and developments in the overall construction programme.

Delivering projects in a busy working environment will require exceptional communication and planning so that our calendar of events and operations can continue.

And the diversity of the Royal Collection will provide you with unique challenges that will grow your expertise and inspire you.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, you’ll have substantial collections management experience, as well as experience working on bulk moves with heritage and significant art collections, ideally within a historic building environment, and will be looking to develop your career in a new environment.

Your expert project management skills will be vital, and you’ll be confident planning and programming multiple streams of work across your team.

A flexible approach to work will ensure you’re able to adapt to changing requirements, and deadlines.

Analytical, and with high initiative, you can be relied upon to quickly assess and resolve conflicts in activities, and keep the pace of each project on track.

You’ll have a natural flare when it comes to communication and stakeholder management, and you’re used to collaborating with colleagues, contractors and in-house teams so you'll quickly build credibility at all levels.

Your exemplary leadership skills and proven ability to mentor, encourage and develop your team through a varied and reactive workload, will in turn result in operational excellence in each and every project that is undertaken.

And above all you'll enjoy working within a talented multi-disciplinary team to achieve collaborative, exceptional results.
