It’s being trusted to deliver, supporting The Queen in her crucial duties as Head of State. This is what makes working for The Royal Household so different.

The Private Secretary's Office supports The Queen in her constitutional, governmental and political duties, working to engage the public with The Queen’s role and work in the UK and overseas.

You will join the Secretariat, a dedicated team who provide analytical research, planning and policy guidance to The Queen's Private Secretaries and wider Household departments.

You will monitor both UK and Commonwealth Realms’ media coverage and produce regular summaries of matters of interest to the organisation. You’ll also have the opportunity to undertake small-scale research and analysis. 

Another important aspect of your role will be reviewing material under the FoI Act and other related information for liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

Handling the team's administrative processes, you will manage the team’s calendar and keep accurate and up-to-date records of all enquiries.

A key point of contact within the team, you will liaise with domestic and overseas Government Departments, public authorities and colleagues across the organisation on a daily basis.

Balancing the range of queries and deadlines will be challenging, which will stretch and develop your skills. Knowing that you’re providing vital support to the entire Household will inspire you to deliver your very best.

With a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject, you will have a proven aptitude for research and analysis, including qualitative and quantitative skills.

Knowledge of the FoI Act and related legislation would be an advantage, along with a desire to build on your knowledge of current domestic and world affairs.

Your analytical mindset will be key to your success. You will be able to consume and review large volumes of information effectively, before drawing up valuable summaries for your colleagues. What’s more, you will adapt your work to suit different needs and audiences.

Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and good knowledge of databases and relevant MS Office programs, you will be comfortable handling the administration for a large number of varied enquiries.

Possessing a methodical approach to work, you will be able to multitask and organise your own workload and deliver to often tight deadlines.

Good written and verbal communication skills are essential as you will need to liaise confidently and effectively with a range of people across the organisation and externally.
