As Assistant Gardener you will be an integral part of the gardening team responsible for the maintenance and on-going development of the gardens and grounds at Royal Lodge.

Working to ensure the grounds are kept to an exceptional standard you will maintain shrub, herbaceous and rose borders.

You will keep the lawns in top condition with regular mowing, scarifying, fertilising and repairs.

Supporting the Head Gardener with the programme of work, you will liaise with contractors and carry out regular inspections of the grounds.

And you'll help to shape the future of the gardens, planting new shrubbery, bulbs and seasonal flower displays, ensuring they continue to provide a worthy setting for a magnificent historic building.

With a passion for gardening you will have previous horticultural experience, ideally in a large garden or estate environment.

An industry recognised qualification in horticulture (NVQ 2 or equivalent) is desirable, as is a PA1/PA6 chemical spray qualification. Experience operating a wide range of garden machinery will also be beneficial.

With good time management and prioritising skills, you will be able to organise a busy and varied workload.

You also have excellent communication skills, and are able to work as part of a flexible and dedicated team with a proactive and adaptable approach.

For this role you will need a clean UK driving license and your own transport will be required.
