Assistant Staff Restaurant Manager

Master of the Household’s Office
Catering
Buckingham Palace
Permanent
£23,000 - £24,000 per annum
40 hours per week, over 5 days Monday to Sunday

It’s supporting our organisation and its people to deliver their best

It's being proud of the part you play. And it’s helping to deliver excellent service in incredible surroundings. This is what makes working for the Royal Household exceptional.

The staff catering team provides the vital sustenance that keeps employees going  both at lunchtime, and at breakfast and dinner for a small number of live-in employees.

The team also manages a café, serving hot and cold food and drinks throughout the day, and supplies refreshments for meeting rooms.

In this fast-paced and varied role, you'll supervise and train our passionate and dedicated team to ensure everyone receives a friendly and efficient service. And by encouraging new ideas, you'll look to continuously improve our offering.

A seven-day-a-week operation, you'll support the Manager day-to-day; organising rosters, managing stock control and responding to customer feedback. And you'll ensure a first-class and welcoming environment that complies with Hygiene Regulations.

And whether you’re based in Buckingham Palace or, when required, travelling to another Royal residence, you’ll be passionate about providing exceptional service every day.

This is your opportunity to develop your supervisory skills and deliver the exceptional.

With previous supervisory experience within the hospitality industry, you're committed to ensuring the highest standards of customer service, and know how to achieve it.

You’re a natural team player, happy to get involved, use initiative and work with your colleagues to achieve a smooth daily service.

However it's your management capability that makes you stand out, and you'll be passionate about developing and motivating those around you.

You clearly take care and pride in your work, and so aim to deliver great results in all that you do.

And your hands-on, practical approach means you'll be confident resolving problems quickly and effectively.

With excellent communication skills, you'll have the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with both your team and external colleagues.

You also have a good working knowledge of Food Hygiene and Safety, and a basic Food Hygiene Certificate would be an advantage. Good administration and IT skills are also important.

Finally, you'll be keen to push yourself and take on new challenges that will expand your knowledge and skills.

In return you will be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including 33 days holiday (inclusive of Bank Holidays), a 15% employer contribution pension scheme (with the option for flexibility to increase contributions or draw down as salary) and support for your continued professional development.
