It's managing the controls for the plan that will preserve the Palace for future generations

It’s actively shaping the future of a remarkable institution. And it’s providing the insight and support that takes this unique project forward. This is what makes working for the Royal Household exceptional.

Buckingham Palace is currently undergoing a ten-year programme of works to overhaul the palace's infrastructure wing-by-wing - including electrical cabling, plumbing and heating - for the first time since the 1950's. A dedicated in-house Programme Management Office is overseeing the delivery of this project, to ensure the building is fit for purpose for the next 50 years.

Joining the dedicated in-house Programme Management Office (PMO), you'll lead the Project Controls Team to manage and continuously improve the suite of programme controls to support the PMO directors and project managers delivering the Reservicing Programme.

As the Project Controls and Reporting Manager, you’ll be responsible for establishing and maintaining robust systems and procedures of control, you'll be relied upon to provide regular and accurate performance reports and analysis for the project teams and directors.

With responsibility for schedule, cost, risk, change and information management, the scope of your work will be challenging and critical to the success of the Programme.

By managing and maintaining the systems, procedures and strategies appropriate for the needs of the PMO, you'll build the structures that will help ensure compliance.

Working with a complex programme, your reports will be essential in recognising variations to the plan that might impact our busy activity and proposing mitigations to control performance.

Ranging in scope and nature, no two days will be the same.  And knowing that you're contributing to the future of an iconic building will inspire you to deliver.

With substantial experience in managing or working as part of a controls leadership function within major capital works, ideally within a heritage or occupied environment, you're exactly who we're looking for.

Experience in working on NEC 3 and/or JCT contracts is also important as you’ll be able to practically utilise critical project management concepts.

A strong leader with excellent people management skills, you’ll have a demonstrated ability to coach and develop a multidisciplinary team whilst fostering a positive environment of engagement and recognition.

Your reporting and data analytics skills are second-to-none, as is your experience using and implementing current project controls systems.

Highly organised and flexible in your approach, you’re able to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritise the varied workload that historic operational environments entail. And as a logical problem solver, you’ll have good judgement whilst remaining calm under pressure.

IT literate, your skills in Microsoft Office and project management tools are on par with your passion for customer service. And with your strategic mindset and resourcefulness, you’ll have a customer-driven approach to improve the way we work.

What’s more, your credibility and strong interpersonal skills will enable you to adopt a naturally collaborative style, whilst building trusting and meaningful relationships with a range of stakeholders.

Above all, you’ll thrive on leading and delivering a high-class service, making this the perfect step in your professional career.
