It's bringing centuries of history into the digital age.

It's finding innovative ways to make progress, and it’s the satisfaction of working with a truly unique collection. This is what makes working for The Royal Household exceptional.

The Royal Archives has a uniquely rich and engrossing history, and contains the official and personal archives of the Sovereign and Members of the Royal Family spanning 250 years.

As part of a small team reporting to the Archives Manager, your main challenge will be to implement the cataloguing strategies for the Royal Library and Archives.

You will bring your experience to lead a variety of projects. Working with both internal colleagues and external contractors, your work will focus on converting legacy metadata and migrating it to in-house and third party cataloguing systems.

You will also undertake the full range of archival work, from reading room supervision and answering enquiries, to preparing displays, cataloguing and supporting the transfer and accession of records.

In everything you do you will aim to engage a growing audience with an expanding collection of nationally significant material.

With an archives or libraries related post-graduate qualification, and experience of implementing cataloguing and access strategies within archives, libraries or similar, you’re the expert we need.

You'll know how to apply cataloguing and exceptional service standards and will be eager to take on the challenges of working with a mix of historic and current materials.

You're a methodical worker, with exceptional organisation and time management skills, able to manage and deliver projects within a deadline driven environment.

A natural communicator, you'll be confident liaising with a broad spectrum of people on a daily basis. Your high standards of written work will be important too.

A working knowledge of one or more foreign languages would be an asset, but of greater importance are your self-motivation, initiative and excellent problem solving skills.
