It's supporting the team who will preserve the palace for future generations

It’s being encouraged to gain new skills. And it's joining the professional business behind the monarchy. This is part of what makes working for The Royal Household exceptional

Buckingham Palace is currently undergoing a ten-year programme of works to overhaul the palace's infrastructure wing-by-wing - including electrical cabling, plumbing and heating - for the first time since the 1950's. A dedicated in-house Programme Management Office is overseeing the delivery of this project, to ensure the building is fit for purpose for the next 50 years.

Joining at a busy time for this exciting programme, this is an opportunity to develop a new role, and establish ways of working that will ensure the programme is successful.

You’ll work as part of the Commercial Team in the dedicated in-house Programme Management Office (PMO), with dual responsibility for the procurement of contractors and the management of their contract.

From developing tender documents to implementing KPI's, you'll manage end to end programmes of work, overseeing and reporting on their progress and ensuring that contractual standards are met.

As the key interface with a range of internal and external stakeholders, you'll proactively and diplomatically coordinate people and projects in close liaison with the in house Procurement Team.

Overseeing the work of cost consultants for a variety of construction projects at different stages will present some challenges. But, with the appropriate management of change control, you'll ensure all contracted works are completed within designated frameworks and to budget.

And although our processes and ways of working are well established you'll have the opportunity to introduce innovative ways of working. We don't stand still here; and your work will make a real impact.

Degree educated and with a relevant professional qualification, you're experienced in providing commercial management on large scale complex projects. Experience of working within historic occupied buildings, and working in secure and live operating environments would also be an advantage.

A natural communicator and collaborator, you're used to working with colleagues, contractors and in-house teams, often with competing interests, and will use your commercial acumen and diplomacy to quickly build credibility at all levels.

You're organised and flexible in approach, and are able to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritise the varied workload that delivering projects in live operational environments requires.

Your reporting and data handling skills are second-to-none, as is your experience in procuring package contractors under various forms of contract including JCT and NEC3 Professional Services.

You'll be comfortable using MS Office suite of functions, project management tools and collaborative platforms such as Asta, Sharepoint, Aconex.

A logical and innovative problem solver too, you're able to suggest pragmatic solutions. And with your strategic mindset and resourcefulness, you'll look to continually improve the way we work.

With your 'can do' attitude, you thrive working collaboratively with colleagues across functional and geographical boundaries to deliver exceptional results.
