With over 220,000 books and manuscripts dating from the 4th century BCE to the 21st century, as well as coins, medals, seals and insignia, the size and breadth of the Royal Library offers a truly unique working environment.

As Curator, you’ll research, catalogue, publish and display a fascinating collection of Books and Manuscripts. And working closely with the Librarian and Senior Curator, you’ll play a key part in the long-term planning and management of the Library collections.

You'll carry out in-depth research, and ensure the collection is catalogued, preserved and stored to the highest standards possible, helping us share the collection as widely as possible.

Liaising with team across Royal Collection Trust, you’ll curate exhibitions, working on all aspects from thematic conception through to installation and programme co-ordination.

You'll also be involved in the preparation of Royal Library material for loans to external institutions, working closely with RCT’s Collections Management team and Loans Manager.

What's more, you’ll be keen to share your passion for Books & Manuscripts with other academics and members of the public. You’ll deliver lectures, tours and other talks that aim to reach, inspire and engage with the broadest audience possible.

And by bringing people closer to a truly unique history you will be inspired every day.

With a relevant degree and curatorial experience working in an academic, library or museum environment, you'll be an asset to our team.

You’ll have significant knowledge of and experience in working with historic collections of books and manuscripts, as well as awareness of their conservation and storage requirements.

With previous project experience and strong administration skills, you'll be able to plan and deliver long term projects alongside a daily workload and tight deadlines.

You'll be happy to prepare talks, presentations and displays, and you'll be eager to share your knowledge with varied audiences.

An effective communicator, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, you'll enjoy collaborating with colleagues who are specialists in a range of disciplines.

And driven by your passion for knowledge, you're also confident working independently and delivering excellent results.
