It's knowing you're bringing people closer to Prince Albert's legacy

It's being trusted to deliver. And it’s the satisfaction of presenting, and promoting, one of the world’s greatest and most diverse art collections. This is what makes working for Royal Collection Trust so different.

In partnership with the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851, Royal Collection Trust is embarking on a major project exploring the life, works and legacy of Prince Albert. The Royal Archives is an indispensable resource for study on Prince Albert, including on the many prints and early photographs he collected and commissioned.

Joining our team of experts, your challenge will be to catalogue, index and oversee the digitisation of selected archives for the Prince Albert Project, enhancing our records for both internal and external audiences.

Your work will focus on creating fit-for purpose metadata for the collection, providing structured descriptions to make sure every object is categorised and easy to find.

You'll help identify the rights holders of material, along with any conservation issues in relation to digitisation. You'll also help colleagues identify and prepare new material for entry on Royal Collection Trust’s ‘Albert’ website.

The deadlines will challenge you, but you'll be driven by the experience you'll gain from the fascinating insight into Prince Albert's life.

And, in all that you do, you'll help a growing audience access and discover our unique collection on Prince Albert.

You'll have a relevant archives qualification, along with a passion and knowledge of British and European history of the 19th century, and you'll be eager to take the next step in your career.

Having experience of cataloguing archives, you'll have a good knowledge of relevant cataloguing standards and the challenges of working with an historic collection, making you an asset to the team.

With an eye for detail and good command of relevant IT programs (including cataloguing systems such as CALM), you'll be confident presenting and interpreting records through online platforms and overseeing the digitisation of the collection for future generations.

Your methodical approach and excellent organisation skills mean you'll have the ability to apply cataloguing rules effectively to meet deadlines.

A working knowledge of one or more European languages would be beneficial, but perhaps more important is your self-motivation.

With excellent communication skills, you'll be able to work both independently and in a small team, to achieve consistently high standards.

And, perhaps above all, you’re eager to immerse yourself in the unique learning opportunities that the collection presents.
