As Gardens Manager, you’ll be responsible for the maintenance and presentation of Windsor Castle gardens and grounds and the management of an operational nursery.
Leading a dedicated and talented team, you’ll use your skills and expertise to deliver all important lawn maintenance and the caring for our Moat Garden which are admired by millions of visitors each year.
Our nursery in Windsor Home Park houses an historic collection of both indoor and outdoor plants for production and cultivation as well as commercial crops for production at the local Windsor Farm Shop.
You’ll use your commercial mindset as well as your horticulture knowledge to continue this first class production and cultivation of plants in existing markets whilst also keeping an eye on emerging markets and products.
With a commitment to horticulture, you’ll be focused on delivering our Garden Conservation Plans as well as leading on new, specialist projects to conserve and enhance our gardens rich biodiversity.
As a People and Project Manager with responsibility for the overall operation of the Windsor Gardens team, you’ll ensure the team are adequately resourced and developing their skills and expertise, whilst keeping an eye on budget and compliant with horticultural and H&S regulations.

As an expert in horticulture management, backed up with a relevant qualification (such as HND, ND / NVQ 3 or RHS Level 3 or even a Botanic Diploma in Horticulture), you’re exactly who we’re looking for.
You’ll have significant experience managing a team of both grounds and growing teams and will be keen to use your knowledge to develop others and introduce apprenticeship and training opportunities.
With previous experience of managing a commercial nursey, you’ll be able to operate within our existing markets from the get-go and be keen to explore potential opportunities to diversify and expand.
You’ll have previous experience maintaining a high quality landscape garden through others, ideally within a historic environment. And you’ll also be familiar with propagation techniques and practices.
Able to demonstrate a range of horticultural craft skills, you’ll be well equipped to use the wide range of garden machinery we have here, including rotary machines and large mowers. Ideally holding a clean UK driving license, you’ll also be confident driving a lorry as part of your duties if required.
It’s a busy environment, so your excellent time management and organisation will be an asset to the team.
