The Private Secretary’s Office supports The Queen in her duties, organising official programmes, and taking responsibility for everything from speeches and correspondence to official presents and congratulatory messages to members of the public.

Working at the heart of the central team, and reporting to the Executive Assistant, you will provide pro-active and wide ranging secretarial support.

You'll assist with the organisation of diaries, meetings, appointments and correspondence as well as helping to manage travel arrangements both in the UK and overseas.

In addition to this, you'll support a range of activities unique to this extraordinary organisation, such as helping to plan official events and overseas engagements.

As a key point of communication, you'll be in regular contact with external organisations and colleagues across the Household on a daily basis. By providing support to the wider team, you'll also ensure the overall smooth running of the offices.

You'll already have some previous administrative or secretarial experience, a good working knowledge of a range of IT packages, and fast, accurate keyboard skills.

Organisation skills and an ability to prioritise are vital in order to manage this busy and varied workload.

You'll also need superb interpersonal and communication skills and be able to liaise with people at all levels.

Proactive and self-motivated, you can use your initiative and composure to resolve any query that comes your way. With good judgement, sensitivity and a willingness to help others, you'll quickly become a trusted and indispensable member of the team.

Above all, your flexible and proactive approach will enable you to work efficiently within a dedicated team who are proud of the support they deliver every day.

As part of this role you'll be required to travel to other Royal residences for up to three weeks throughout the year. The successful candidate will go through DV clearance before starting their role.
