Directorate

It's the sense of guardianship for a world class collection.

It's being trusted to deliver, and it’s preserving a world renowned collection for future generations. This is what makes for a management career with Royal Collection Trust exceptional.

In terms of both scope and scale, The Royal Collection is truly extraordinary. This important collection is accessible through the public opening of royal palaces, changing exhibitions and loans, and an online collection for people to explore.

In this new role, you’ll be responsible for delivering our Storage Programme: a series of projects to improve the future storage conditions for Royal Collection objects.

The largest and most impactful of these projects will be the installation of a new Arts Store at Windsor. As a key member of the project team, you will help to ensure it is delivered to budget, timescale and standard.

Beyond this, you’ll take on a Project Sponsorship role for other storage projects across our locations. Overseeing the Project Managers you’ll steer the project planning, as well as identify and manage the key risks, milestones and each project’s evolution.

Collaboration is at the heart of all we do, so you’ll work alongside experts to balance custodial needs with collection moves, as well as chair our Programme Steering Group and play a key role in wider stakeholder engagement.

Delivering the programme alongside the busy activities of working palaces will be a unique challenge for you. You’ll liaise with household colleagues to align timescales with other property projects, such as Buckingham Palace Reservicing, daily operations and events.

With a clear vision and oversight of each project, you’ll drive forward future improvements, knowing your expert advice will help ensure the delivery of a successful programme.

With experience in programme management within a major arts collection or heritage environment, you’ll have a thorough understanding of the issues associated with conservation, storage and the movement of art, including the environmental monitoring and associated control systems.

And it’s vital that you’re comfortable leading on projects from conception to completion, including implementing effective programme controls.

You’ll have exceptional planning and programming skills, enabling you to organise a varied and reactive workload. With a collaborative approach, and able to work at both a strategic and tactical level, you'll confidently evaluate and decide the best approach for each situation.

And as an engaging communicator with strong customer focus, you'll be able to build strong working relationships with internal and external colleagues alike.

But it's your initiative and decision making ability, along with an ability to prioritise effectively to meet multiple deadlines that will make you a real asset to the multi-disciplined team you’ll lead.

Above all, you'll be eager to take advantage of this new role and the unique learning opportunities that it presents.
