Trainee Butler
It's preparing events, ready to deliver world class service.
It's being encouraged to gain new skills. And it's delivering extraordinary service in incredible surroundings. That is what a career with the Royal Household means.
The Master of the Household's Department handles everything involved in the official and private entertaining across all the Royal residences.
By joining our well-established career pathway, we will help you become an all-round hospitality expert. Learning from our experienced team and industry recognised training, you'll provide a hospitality service to an extraordinary level, both front-of-house and behind-the-scenes.
You'll take care of guests from welcome to goodbye. And you'll learn how to deliver functions of all scales, from official lunches to state banquets.
But it's the extensive back-of-house preparation that ensures success. The basics need to be right. And so you'll learn all the specialist professional skills needed to make sure presentation and delivery is always perfect.
The learning curve will be steep, but we'll be with you every step of the way. And in an environment where development and training is commonplace, you'll grow your skills far beyond your immediate role. And, after initial training, you'll be supported to achieve an accredited Butlering qualification too.
Working and living in stunning historic settings, you'll challenge yourself to deliver to the very highest standards every day.
Previous hospitality experience would be an advantage but is not essential. We're more interested in your proactive approach and ability to tackle new challenges.
You're at your best working in a team and can be relied upon to play your part. That means being punctual and able to follow instruction, as well as being helpful and willing to lend a hand.
Although we can teach you how to serve at a wide range of events, you'll need to be polite, friendly and approachable, and able to communicate with all kinds of people.
We seek to deliver perfection, and so you'll need to demonstrate how you pay attention to detail and take pride in your work.
And above all, you must be absolutely committed to a career in hospitality and keen to learn new skills.
In return you can look forward to working in a unique and stimulating work environment, and be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including 33 days holiday (inclusive of Bank Holidays), a 15% employer contribution pension scheme (with the option for flexibility - to increase contributions or draw down as salary) and meals on duty. The role also offers the option to live-in with all meals provided (for which there is a salary adjustment). Training and development is encouraged and you will have access to a range of recreational facilities.
