Sous Chef
It's using your expertise to deliver the highest standards
It's developing your leadership skills. And it’s helping to deliver extraordinary service. This is what makes a career at the Royal Household so different.
Joining an accomplished team, you’ll work hands-on with your colleagues to deliver food to the highest standards.
You'll plan and develop menu items for a wide range of events, as well as helping to manage stock levels.
Alongside the Head Chef you’ll lead and motivate the Kitchen team, playing an integral part in the day-to-day running of our operations.
In an environment where development and training is commonplace, you'll be supported to grow within your role, developing both your managerial and technical cookery skills.
And whether you’re based in Buckingham Palace or travelling to other locations, you'll look forward to whatever challenge comes your way.
You're an experienced and qualified Chef with a background in premier catering, looking to take on a new challenge.
You'll have a thorough knowledge of the food industry and are trained in classical French cuisine, and you'll be confident planning and developing menus for a wide range of occasions, including volume catering.
Strong leadership skills will be absolutely vital. It's essential that you can plan, organise and delegate effectively, and also that you can motivate and develop those around you.
With excellent communication skills, you'll have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with your colleagues around the organisation.
It's also important that you can follow up-to-date catering legislative requirements.
Above all, you'll be committed to achieving high standards every day, making you a real asset to the Kitchen team.
This role will be based in London, and will involve travelling to other Royal residences. In return you can look forward to working in a unique and stimulating work environment, and be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including 33 days holiday (inclusive of Bank Holidays), a 15% employer contribution pension scheme (with the option for flexibility - to increase contributions or draw down as salary) and meals on duty. The role also offers the option to live-in with all meals provided (for which there is a salary adjustment).
