Since 1993, Buckingham Palace has opened its doors every summer to welcome thousands of visitors from around the World. Joining our welcoming and highly professional Operations Supervisor team, you will play a pivotal role in creating an extraordinary experience.

As an Operations Supervisor, you will be part of a small team managing the day-to-day running of Buckingham Palace Summer Opening. With line management of a team of Team Leaders, and duty supervision of a large front-line team, you will be a motivational, visible and inspiring people and site supervisor, ensuring the delivery of an exceptional visitor experience across all areas of Buckingham Palace Summer Opening.

Responsibilities:

• Through a team of Team Leaders, manage all aspects of the visitor route, resolving operational issues that arise across site.
• Performance manage Team Leaders to ensure that all zones across the operation are adequately staffed, with resources distributed appropriately.
• Conduct regular performance reviews with Team Leaders, coaching them to ensure their teams are managed effectively, and performance issues appropriately followed up.
• Manage a fast-paced and large volume of radio, telephone, e-mail and in-person communications, triaging and prioritising as required.
• When operationally mobile, spend large portions of the day walking the site, ensuring that the visitor route is presented to the highest possible standard.
• Follow up any staffing concerns, including performance and presentation, with the appropriate Team Leader, to ensure any issues are resolved quickly.
• Act as a point of escalation for the Team Leader team, including staff and visitor concerns.
• Collaborate with various stakeholders across the organisation to ensure smooth operations, escalating more complex issues to the Duty Manager.
• Provide excellent customer service with a friendly and professional service.

Essential Criteria:

• You will bring solid supervisory experience, with the confidence and capability to guide, support and motivate a team to deliver consistently high standards.
• You will demonstrate strong administrative competence, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑moving environment.
• Clear, effective communication will be one of your strengths, alongside a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service in every interaction.
• You will present yourself with warmth and professionalism, creating a positive and approachable presence for colleagues and customers alike.
• With a flexible and collaborative mindset, you will adapt easily to changing daily demands and contribute positively to team goals.
• You will be comfortable working on your feet throughout the day, both indoors and outdoors, maintaining energy and focus across varied tasks.
