Health & Safety Manager, PMO

Reservicing
Buckingham Palace
Permanent
circa. £50,000 dependent on experience
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

It's supporting an incredible project by making it safe for all.

It’s knowing that your work matters more. And it’s the pride in joining a team at the heart of a world famous institution. This is what makes working for the Royal Household exceptional.

Like any historical building Buckingham Palace requires care and attention, and reservicing work is now underway to protect the building for future generations. As the largest project of its type since the 1950's, the ten year reservicing programme will ensure that the Palace is fit for purpose for the next 50 years.

In this role, you’ll join the dedicated Construction Team, who form a vital part of our in-house Programme Management Office (PMO), for the Reservicing of Buckingham Palace.

As a Health & Safety Manager, you'll coordinate and monitor the safety of project operations, supporting and promoting a safe working environment throughout the Reservicing Programme.

Achieving the highest standards of safety, you'll review RAMS, licences, permits and certificates, monitoring the progress of projects, identifying deviations and communicating these to the relevant contacts, in order to arrange corrective actions.

Promoting a positive health & safety culture, you'll train and educate employees and contractors on best practice, providing support and advice on all matters regarding health & safety.

Working on areas that have not been touched since the 1950's will present you with a range of health & safety risks. But with your specialist knowledge, you'll ensure compliance with relevant health & safety legislations.

And although our processes and ways of working are well established, there is always room for innovation, and you'll have the opportunity to improve safety strategies, policies and practices. We don't stand still here; and your work will make a real impact.

With a relevant professional qualification and with substantial experience of health and safety in the property or construction sector, you're exactly who we're looking for. Experience with historic occupied buildings and working in secure and live operating environments would also be an advantage.

Chartered, or close to Chartership in ISOH, you have working knowledge of and training in construction health & safety risks. As well as that, you're able to demonstrate experience in statutory compliance and risk management.

Proactive, with a flexible, can-do attitude you're at your best working in a team. And as a confident communicator, you'll be able to build strong working relationships with internal and external colleagues across geographical boundaries.

A logical and innovative problem solver, you're able to suggest pragmatic solutions and keep calm under pressure.

Your focus on customer service will be clear in everything you do, and by collecting feedback from colleagues, you'll help monitor success and suggest improvements for the future.

Computer literate, you'll be familiar with Microsoft Office tools to help organise and manage a busy workload. And, you'll be able to quickly grasp in-house bespoke systems.

And with lots of initiative you’ll be eager to take this programme forward and seize the unique opportunities that the role presents.
