Sous Chef

Master of the Household’s Office
Catering
Buckingham Palace
Permanent
Competitive + a 15% employer contribution pension scheme. This role offers the option of live-in accommodation (for which there is a salary adjustment) with all meals provided.
Full time, five days out of seven, Monday to Sunday.

It’s the collaboration and the community spirit. And it’s helping to deliver extraordinary service in incredible surroundings. This is what makes working for the Royal Household so different.

There are no other kitchens like ours, and operating in six different residences the scope and variety this role offers is second to none.

Joining an accomplished and close-knit team, you’ll work hands-on with talented colleagues to deliver food to the highest standards.

You could find yourself preparing everything from daily staff lunches for 500 people, to meals for two, and this is alongside canapé receptions and state dinners.

You’ll work with quality ingredients to plan and co-ordinate menus that will be enjoyed by Members of The Royal Family, colleagues and guests alike.

You’ll lead and motivate a team while developing both your managerial and cooking skills, playing an integral part in the day-to-day running of The Royal Household.

And you’ll spend up to three months each year, at other Royal residences around the UK.

You'll be an experienced and qualified chef with a background in premier catering, ready to take on a new challenge.

Every day is different here and every day is busy, so your ability to adapt is important, and you’ll be confident working across every area of the kitchen.

You must be a strong leader. It's essential that you can plan, organise and delegate effectively, as you and your team will be delivering for very varied occasions.

Your attention to detail will be vital, and you'll have the technical skills to deliver plates of culinary precision.

Teamwork is everything in the kitchens, and with your strong communication skills and proactive approach, you'll enjoy working alongside your colleagues.

And with a clear passion for food, you'll be able to plan contemporary and exciting menus whilst taking inspiration from your historic surroundings.

In return you can look forward to working in a unique and stimulating work environment, and be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including 33 days holiday (inclusive of Bank Holidays), a 15% employer contribution pension scheme (with the option for flexibility - to increase contributions or draw down as salary) and meals on duty. The role also offers the option to live-in with all meals provided (for which there is a salary adjustment). Training and development is encouraged and you will have access to a range of recreational facilities.
