It's enabling modern technology to support progress, whilst surrounded by the past.

It’s inspiring the changes behind the tradition and providing the insight and expertise that takes the entire Household forward. This is what makes working for the Royal Household exceptional.

The Royal Household Digital Services teams support in excess of 1,000 computers and 1,800 users across 25 royal residences. The Network Team plays an integral part in this with the design, implementation and management of all IT infrastructure including LAN, WAN, wireless, telephony, network perimeter and network security.

In this role, you'll support and maximise network performance for computer users across the organisation. On a day-to-day basis, you will work on every aspect of our network including design, expansion, troubleshooting and security.

Working closely with the Cyber Team, you’ll implement and maintain network monitoring and intrusion detection solutions, including the management of Next-Generation Firewalls.

You’ll also provide input into the telecoms system design and strategy and work to maintain a modern, secure and reliable VOIP telecoms service.

Monitoring and dealing with any issues that arise, you will also plan to improve operations for the future.

As a key member of the IT team, you will use your technical expertise to provide training to other team members and keep up to date with the most recent developments in your field.

Principally based at Buckingham Palace, you will occasionally travel to other royal residences across the UK. There will also be the opportunity for some home working once on-site training has been completed.

The broad range of systems and technologies you will work with, as well as the size and complexity of this organisation, will present you with some truly fascinating and unique challenges.

With a broad experience in network security and design and a Cisco CCNP Enterprise qualification, or equivalent, you’re an expert in your field, looking to expand your experience.

You’ll have an excellent working knowledge of VPNs, Next Generation Firewalls (ideally Palo Alto), Cisco devices, as well as WAN/LAN routing and switching experience.

With substantial experience in telecoms engineering, you’ll be confident tracing faults within the infrastructure and liaising with telecoms suppliers to deploy new services and resolve problems.

To excel, you will need to be a logical and innovative thinker; you will thrive on tackling complex network issues that arise for service users across the entire Household and demonstrate a customer focused attitude to your work.

Communication skills are essential too as you’ll have to be able to discuss both technical and non-technical matters to service users at all levels.

Finally, you will possess excellent time management abilities which will equip you to plan and work on several projects at once.

There will be opportunities to develop your existing skills and broaden your expertise in this unique and stimulating environment.
