It's conserving a collection that will be enjoyed by future generations

It's the satisfaction in delivering outstanding results. And it's working with one of the world's largest art collections. This is what makes a career with Royal Collection Trust so special.

In terms of both quality and diversity, the Royal Collection is truly unique. As home to a significant part of this remarkable Collection, Windsor Castle holds one of the finest collections of historic arms and armour, dating from the late bronze age to the 20th Century.

Based at our on-site conservation workshop, you'll join our team of talented conservation specialists, overseeing and conserving a vast array of historic arms, armour and related media.

You'll carry out a wide-range of conservation activities, including object treatment and maintenance as well as detailed surveys to keep the Collection in the best condition.

You'll also assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the specialist tools and equipment used for the preservation of the Collection.

Your expertise will be relied upon, and you'll carefully balance multiple projects. Collaborating with colleagues across the organisation, you'll provide advice and guidance to ensure exceptional standards of collections care and conservation at all times.

Helping to co-ordinate loans, you'll contribute to ensuring this important part of the Royal Collection continues to be conserved and protected.

And knowing that you're helping to preserve a collection that will be enjoyed by millions means you'll aim for the highest standards in all that you do.

You'll have a relevant degree, along with previous experience conserving historic arms and armour, and a desire to develop your career in this field further. A completed Metals Conservation course would also be beneficial.

With relevant conservation skills and a working knowledge, you understand the technicalities of working with metals and associated media. You'll be confident evaluating items, and proposing practical conservation treatments.

You've also been exposed to the process of setting up temporary exhibitions, with knowledge of the various processes involved including storage, packing and installation.

Your organisation and time management skills will be vital in order to prioritise multiple deadlines.

An excellent communicator, you'll enjoy working alongside and engaging with people at all levels, both internal and external.

Perceptive, with great problem solving skills, we can rely on you to take initiative, assess situations, and make decisions when needed.

A good command of relevant IT programs will be important too, in particular to use our collection database.

What's more, you're exceptional eye for detail means you'll be driven to maintain the very highest standards of care and conservation.
