It's conserving a collection that will be enjoyed by future generations

It's the satisfaction in delivering outstanding results, and it's caring for and presenting one of the world's largest art collections. This is what makes working for Royal Collection Trust so different.

The Royal Collection contains an unparalleled collection of nearly 8,000 paintings and 3,000 miniatures.

Our team of talented Paintings Conservators is responsible for all conservation activities relating to the paintings displayed within the Royal residences as well for loans from the Paintings collection.

Immersing yourself in this fascinating collection, you'll undertake full structural treatment and repair of paintings, using the most appropriate methods and materials to conserve paintings to the very highest standards.

You'll fully assess paintings in the collection, compiling condition reports and determining any structural treatment needed, as well as keeping our expanding database updated.

This is a truly unique opportunity. As part of your continuing professional development, you will undertake work placements at partner institutions to further develop your expertise in canvas supports and become a source of advice and guidance for the team.

What's more, you'll be proud to share your knowledge and promote the work of the department, delivering talks and providing material for articles, which aim to inspire and engage the broadest audience possible.

You'll aim for perfection in all that you do. And knowing that you're helping to preserve a collection that will be enjoyed by future generations will be your biggest reward.

You'll have a post-graduate qualification in Paintings Conservation, along with significant practical experience in the structural conservation of paintings, and a desire to develop your career in this field further.

You have experience with specialist equipment, tools and techniques, and a well-developed understanding of the conservation and environmental requirements of paintings on canvas and on wood.

In addition, your time management skills and organised approach will be vital in order to prioritise multiple, and often conflicting deadlines.

Organised yet flexible in approach, you'll be able to scope out and plan long term work whilst also adapting to align with wider, short-term needs.

With excellent problem solving skills, we can rely on you to take initiative, assess situations and make decisions when needed.

You're an excellent communicator, and will enjoy working alongside and engaging with people at all levels across our varied and talented team.

Above all, you're driven to maintain the very highest standards of care in all that you do.

This is your opportunity to further develop your practical skills to deliver the exceptional.
