The Royal Collection contains an unparalleled collection of nearly 8,000 paintings and 3,000 miniatures.

As Senior Art Handler, you'll be responsible for the planning and co-ordination of complex picture moves, substitutions and installations between our various Royal residences and Galleries. 

Liaising with colleagues across you the organisation, you'll ensure moves are scheduled and carried out in line with our busy programme of loans and exhibitions and the operational requirements of the Royal Household.

Drawing on your Art Handling expertise, you'll supervise internal colleagues and external contractors alike, providing advice and guidance to make sure paintings are handled, packed, transported and installed correctly, ensuring exceptional standards of collections care at all times.

You'll document all picture moves, and will make sure our expanding database is kept up-to-date.

Supporting the team, you'll assist with the preparation of frames and framing of paintings to conservation standards.

And, knowing that you're enabling our paintings to be admired by a huge audience will be your biggest reward.

With significant art handling experience working in historic buildings, and ideally, a recognised  qualification in a branch of conservation or collection care, you're the expert we're looking for.

You have extensive knowledge of methods of installing and transporting historic paintings, and the materials and equipment required.

Organised and flexible in approach, you'll be adept at managing your time and prioritising a varied workload, in order to meet tight deadlines. 

Perceptive with great problem solving skills, we can rely on you to take initiative and make swift decisions when needed.  

You're an excellent communicator, and will enjoy engaging with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.  

For this role, good manual handling skills will be needed, along with confidence working at heights and a full UK driving licence.

A good command of relevant IT programmes will be important too.
