Reservicing
Buckingham Palace
Permanent
£27,000 - £30,000, dependent on experience
37.5 hours per week

About the team:

Buckingham Palace is currently undergoing a ten-year programme of works to overhaul the palace's infrastructure - including electrical cabling, plumbing and heating - for the first time since the 1950's. A dedicated in-house Programme Management Office will oversee the delivery of this project, to ensure the building is fit for purpose for the next 50 years.

About the role:

It's supporting the team who will preserve the palace for future generations

It’s being trusted to deliver. And it’s joining the professional team behind the monarchy. This is what makes working for the Royal Household exceptional.

As part of a growing team of specialists working alongside Royal Collection Trust colleagues, you'll help coordinate varied decant projects around the Palace throughout the reservicing programme.

Be it timescale planning, resourcing and supervising the delivery of future decants, or overseeing reinstatement work, you’ll ensure all collection moves are completed in line with the wider reservicing project.

A main point of contact for internal and external teams alike, you'll collaborate with a range of stakeholders to organise and implement the operational aspects of decants projects throughout the Palace.

You’ll be relied upon to ensure every stage is delivered to the very best standard, and that items in the Royal Collection continue to be well cared for and protected.

The scope and scale of the project will be challenging, but working alongside specialists in their fields, you’ll develop to become a trusted source of advice and guidance.

And knowing you’re ensuring the safety and protection of hundreds of items within the Royal Collection will continue to drive you.

Educated to degree level, you’ll have previous collections management experience in collections, exhibitions or decant projects.

Your background knowledge will likely lie in the handling of objects and works of art. This, along with a knowledge of collections conservation and care, and of inventory and documentation work, will be key to your success.

But more important is your project management skills. Being highly organised, you'll be confident planning and programming a large-scale and complex project to help ensure different elements are delivered to time and within budget.

An excellent attention to detail, relevant IT skills and experience of using a CMS will also be valuable.

A natural communicator and collaborator, used to working with a range of people, you’ll be confident resourcing, liaising with and managing external consultants and contractors.

Pro-active and with lots of initiative you’ll thrive in a varied role, effectively adapting to meet changing circumstances and deadlines.

And above all you'll enjoy working within a talented multi-disciplinary team to achieve collaborative, exceptional results.
