It’s developing and inspiring those around you, providing the insight that takes the whole Household forward. This is what makes leadership at the Royal Household so different.

The Royal Household Property Section is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of official residences within the Royal Estate.

The size, complexity and heritage of our London sites present some fascinating, and often unique, challenges. As a working Royal residence, Buckingham Palace delivers regular functions and events of varying scale, houses offices for a large number of employees, and is also a major tourist attraction open to the public most days of the year.

Reporting to the Director of Property, you will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver planned, cyclical, and reactive works across the entire London Estate. You will ensure all maintenance and minor project work is delivered as scheduled to the highest standard.

With a customer focused and cost effective approach, you will continuously look for ways to drive forward the professional service provided by the Property Section.

Ensuring property operations integrate with the ongoing requirements of a working Royal residence will be a central part to the role. Engaging with both internal and external stakeholders you will balance diverse customer needs, whilst also modernising our systems for the future.

As part of the senior management team, you will also define our annual works programme, 10 Year Plan and overarching strategy, integrating London operations with the wider Property Section.

With oversight of budget, contract, compliance and risk management, you will be responsible for ensuring a best practice and consistent approach to our operations.

Leading a committed team of professionals, of around 30 in size, you'll motivate and develop those around you to deliver exceptional results.

The diversity of our operations will provide unique challenges, and you will have a real impact, creating a sustainable future for our historic buildings.

With relevant professional qualifications and substantial experience as an operational property manager, ideally gained within historic occupied buildings, you will bring a high level of expertise and knowledge to the organisation.

With outstanding people leadership qualities you will be confident directing the work of a diverse team,   with the ability to motivate, encourage and develop others, as well as managing change and performance.

Adept at managing  stakeholder relationships, you will combine your communication skills with technical expertise to become a trusted advisor.

You have extensive property management experience and are used to managing a tight programme of works, and  will be able to adapt to tight deadlines and the range of complex challenges that  historic buildings present.

You will also have a  strong understanding of budget management and procurement, as well as   experience of contractor, cost control, risk and compliance processes.

Analytical and logical, you have sound judgement, and can relied upon to make daily decisions in a   busy and deadline driven work environment. Able to balance strategic and operational priorities, you will know when to delve into the detail or when to retain a wider perspective.

Above all, you will have customer focus in all you do. This, with a proactive approach will ensure you will lead the team in delivering results they can be proud of.

This is your opportunity to use your professional expertise to deliver the exceptional.
