It’s learning your craft with one of the world's greatest collections.

It's being encouraged to gain new skills. And it's the opportunity to develop your knowledge of one of the world's largest art collections. This is what makes an internship with Royal Collection Trust so different.

In terms of quality and diversity, the Royal Collection is truly breath-taking, with nearly a million objects located at royal residences across the UK.

Joining our expert Collections Information team, you’ll help document this extraordinary collection, expanding its access for both internal and external audiences.

During your internship, you'll gain first-hand experience in a wide range of documentation activities. You’ll assist with condition checks getting to know each item in depth and researching historic inventories to discover its past.

You’ll also help with the packing, storage and presentation of items, as well cataloguing new material and updating our Collection Management System records with the results of your work.

As part of your internship, you’ll undertake individual project work, and you’ll develop a greater insight into a specific area of Collections information of your choosing.

Working closely with curatorial and conservation colleagues, you’ll learn from the expertise of those around you. This, alongside first-hand exposure to a world renowned collection will provide the perfect foundation for your career.

You'll already have some practical documentation experience in a museum or collections environment, alongside a relevant degree or equivalent qualification.

What’s more you’ll have a real passion for discovering the history and context of the Royal Collection and developing a career in Collections management.

You'll have strong IT skills, with experience working with databases. This, alongside an organised approach to handle large amounts of information, as well as you workload, will be key to your success.

You’ll also have exceptional attention to detail, and a good knowledge of physically handling objects correctly.

You’re a confident communicator with excellent written and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

With lots of initiative and a proactive approach, you’ll be an asset to our team.

Above all, you're eager to immerse yourself in the unique and varied learning opportunities that the Collection presents.
